Hum TV’s drama Muamma has wrapped up its run with a finale that has ignited intense debate online, as audiences reacted sharply to the tragic end of its central character. Produced by Momina Duraid Productions and directed by Shaqielle Khan, the series had built a strong following over the course of its broadcast, making its conclusion all the more scrutinised.

Written by Imran Nazir, the show revolved around Jahan Aara, also known as “Jiji”, portrayed by Saba Qamar in a role marked by emotional intensity and moral ambiguity. The ensemble cast, including Ali Ansari, Anoushay Abbasi, Shahzad Sheikh, Sidra Niazi and Nabeel Zuberi, contributed to a layered narrative that explored power, manipulation and fractured relationships.

a dark conclusion for a complex protagonist

The final episode delivered a grim resolution as Jahan Aara’s arc came to an abrupt end when she was killed by her former husband Sarmad, following a web of betrayals and conspiracies. Another key moment saw Shahjahan step away from the household, returning the keys and signalling the closure of the story’s central conflict.

For many viewers, the ending felt jarring. Fans reactions described the finale as emotionally overwhelming while some argued that a character as intricately developed as Jahan Aara warranted a more nuanced or redemptive conclusion, rather than a violent demise.

Praise for performances, criticism for closure

Despite the backlash surrounding the plot’s resolution, the drama’s performances, particularly that of Saba Qamar, drew widespread acclaim. Viewers credited her portrayal for anchoring the series, noting that she brought depth and conviction to a character that oscillated between vulnerability and control.

At the same time, criticism centred on the narrative’s final stretch. Several viewers pointed out that certain character arcs were left unresolved, while others felt the story lost coherence in its closing moments. The absence of clear closure for supporting characters added to the sense of dissatisfaction among a segment of the audience.

Even so, Muamma’s ability to provoke strong emotional responses reflects its impact. While the finale has divided opinion, the drama’s storytelling, performances and thematic ambition ensured it remained a talking point until the very end, and likely beyond.
