Independence Day: is Lahore Zoo reopening for public on August 14?

LAHORE: The Lahore Zoo’s reopening, which was scheduled for August 14—Independence Day—has been postponed once again. The zoo has been closed for renovations since November 2023 and was briefly opened to the public during Eidul Azha.

Lahore Zoo Director Azim Zafar has been transferred to Multan, and Sheikh Zahid Iqbal has assumed charge as the new Director.
In November 2034, the caretaker government of Punjab, led by then Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, initiated the upgrade projects for Lahore Zoo and Safari Park. The government set a deadline of January 31st for completing the reconstruction. However, as of now, the upgrade work remains unfinished.
