In an unexpected turn of events, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Mitchell have announced the cancellation of their wedding, just a month after their high-profile proposal at the DY Patel Stadium. The couple had captured the hearts of millions when Palash proposed to Smriti during the celebration of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team’s victory at the 2025 World Cup.
Smriti Mandhana took to her Instagram story to address the ongoing speculation surrounding her personal life. She wrote, “There has been a lot of speculation about my life over the past few weeks, and I feel it is important to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and want to keep it that way, but I want to make it clear that the wedding has been called off.”

In her message, Smriti also reiterated her desire to keep the matter private moving forward and requested the public to respect both families’ wishes for space and privacy as they process the situation.
Palash Mitchell, in a separate statement, directly addressed the media frenzy. He expressed the emotional toll the past few weeks had taken on him, calling it the “most difficult phase” of his life. He criticised the spread of baseless rumors and defamatory content, revealing that his team would pursue legal action against those responsible for disseminating false information.

The couple had initially planned to marry on November 24, but the wedding was postponed without explanation. The announcement has taken fans by surprise, especially following the touching proposal video that had gone viral, which captured the joyous moment at the stadium. Now, the same fans are left to process the sudden change in the couple’s plans.
Both Smriti and Palash have expressed their hopes that the public will allow them the privacy they need to move forward.
