“Intense Raffles” gallops to victory at the Irish Grand National


Racing horse “Intense Raffles” clinched victory at the prestigious Irish Grand National held at Fairyhouse Racecourse in the small town of Ratoath, Republic of Ireland.


RATOATH: In a display of intense skill, racing horse “Intense Raffles” clinched victory at the prestigious Irish Grand National held at Fairyhouse Racecourse in the small town of Ratoath, Republic of Ireland on Monday.

The event, often likened to the “Super Bowl” of horse racing, was broadcast to spectators worldwide as elite competitors vied for victory in National Hunt racing.

The horse was piloted by JJ Slevin, a seasoned jockey with previous achievements in the event. With the help of Slevin, Intense Raffles demonstrated an impressive display of strength despite his relative youth at six years old.

The demanding course, that resembles an intricate obstacle course, required precision and agility from both horse and rider. Under Slevin’s guidance, Intense Raffles navigated the obstacle course with grace, showcasing impressive jumping skills that propelled him to the forefront of the competition.

Despite facing a minor challenge near the finish line, Intense Raffles raced to victory in a closely contested race under Slevin’s guidance. The horse-rider’s partnership ended in Intense Raffles’ title as the Irish Grand National champion.

The horse’s trainer Tom Gibney celebrated his second victory in the championship. He expressed gratitude to the horse’s owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede for their trust in entrusting Intense Raffles to his care. This year’s win is even more meaningful because the owner chose to support a smaller stable for such a big race.

The Irish Grand National is a well-known horse race held in Ireland, where horses jump over obstacles such as fences and ditches. The Irish Grand National is held at Fairyhouse Racecourse annually and is open to horses aged five or older.

The race spans about 3 miles and 5 furlongs, equivalent to approximately 5.8 kilometers. Competing horses must navigate over 24 fences throughout the course.

The race is held annually on Easter Monday as part of Fairyhouse’s Easter Festival meeting.

A highly prestigious event in the horse racing community, the race attract the elite horses, jockeys, and trainers from around the world.
