Inter Milan defeat Olympiacos 2-0 in final pre-season friendly

BARI: Inter Milan ended their pre-season campaign on a good note with a 2-0 win against Greek champions Olympiacos in a well-attended friendly match at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari, Italy.

The match offered good learning experience for Inter ahead of the upcoming Serie A season.

Federico Dimarco scored the goal in the 16th minute. He got a perfect pass from his teammate Lautaro Martinez and kickedthe ball into the goal where the other team’s goalkeeper could not reach it.

The early goal helped Inter take control of the first half of the game.

Dimarco had to leave the game early because he hurt his thigh after scoring. He was replaced by another player, Luis Henrique, after 29 minutes.

Even though they lost one important player, Inter kept playing well and kept making chances to score.

The second and last goal came in the 53rd minute when Marcus Thuram quickly reacted after the goalkeeper saved a shot from his teammate, Denzel Dumfries.

Thuram scored by hitting the ball into the net after the goalkeeper could not hold it.

Inter’s coach, Cristian Chivu, used this match to let some younger players get experience, like Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny. The coach also took important players, such as Lautaro Martinez and Marcos Thuram, out of the game towards the end.

Olympiacos had performed well in their previous games but found it hard to get past Inter Milan’s strong defense. They changed their strategy late in the game to try to attack more but still could not create good chances to score.

During the game, both teams had the ball about the same amount. But Inter’s attacks were sharper and more effective. Olympiacos only had a few shots at the goal, and those were either off target or saved easily by Inter’s goalkeeper, Andre Sommer.

The win finishes a successful pre-season for Inter Milan. They did not lose any of their warm-up games.
