ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that instead of making efforts for peace only as a formality, new methods should be explored to achieve peace.
He made this statement while addressing the second day of the ministerial meeting of the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
Pakistan is hosting the preparatory meeting of the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping ministerial on August 30-31, in Islamabad. The theme of the meeting is “Safety and Security of UN Peacekeepers,” and it is being co-hosted by Japan.

“Pakistan is determined to play a role in the UN peacekeeping mission,” Jilani said, adding that Pakistan has always played a role in establishing peace in volatile areas.
He also suggested that capacity-building measures should be taken to improve efficacy of peace missions, as well as to provide medical assistance to the personnel who are part of the peace missions.
Member States represented in the UN Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations – comprising 156 countries – will participate along with local and international experts.
