WEB DESK: Rumours surrounding the highly anticipated iPhone 16 continue to circulate, with recent leaks shedding light on a potentially groundbreaking addition to its features: the “Capture Button.”

These leaked images offer a glimpse into how this new button may appear on the upcoming iPhone.

While its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro, introduced the Action Button, the iPhone 16 lineup is rumoured to elevate the user experience with the introduction of this innovative functionality aimed at enhancing photography.

The speculated Capture Button is anticipated to be a standout feature across the entire iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Various CAD drawings and dummy units suggest that this button will be positioned on the right side of the devices, aligning with the current location of the mmWave 5G antenna in the United States.

Initially, speculation hinted at a capacitive design for the capture button. However, recent reports indicate otherwise, suggesting a mechanical design with a physical press mechanism.

Notably, sources reveal that despite its mechanical nature, the surface of the capture button will boast touch sensitivity.

Allegedly, iPhone 16 users will be able to swipe left and right on the button’s surface to adjust zoom levels and manipulate focus and image capture by varying pressure on the button.

Initial reactions to the concept of a dedicated “Capture Button” were mixed. However, the inclusion of swipe gestures in recent rumours has ignited curiosity and speculation among enthusiasts.

Some have drawn comparisons to the convenience offered by the iPhone Smart Battery Case, which featured a built-in camera capture button, evoking nostalgia for its utility.
