WEB DESK: Apple is reportedly preparing a significant redesign for its 2025 iPhone lineup, reminiscent of the transformative iPhone X launch.
According to a new report from The Information, one of the upcoming models, possibly named the ‘iPhone Slim,’ is expected to introduce several notable changes.
The report aligns with previous rumors about a new slim iPhone model but offers additional insights into its potential features.
Apple is currently testing various designs for this sleeker device, which might include an aluminum chassis and a smaller hole and pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing camera and sensors, according to a source familiar with the matter.
This new iPhone will likely feature Apple’s latest-generation processor, tentatively called the A19, and an enhanced front camera, improving video calls and selfies.
The screen size is anticipated to fall between the 6.12-inch diagonal display of the standard iPhone and the 6.69-inch display of the iPhone Pro Max, the source added.
In a notable design shift, the rear cameras could be relocated from the upper-left corner to the top center of the phone’s back, another insider revealed. This move would mark a significant departure from the current iPhone camera layout.
The upcoming model is described as “significantly thinner” than existing iPhones, potentially leading to the discontinuation of the iPhone Plus line. However, it is expected to come with a higher price tag than the current Pro Max model.
The redesign is being compared to the groundbreaking changes introduced with the iPhone X in 2017, which revolutionised the iPhone with features like Face ID, OLED displays, thin bezels, and the removal of the Home button.
The iPhone X set a new price benchmark at $999, and the new model is anticipated to follow this premium pricing trend.
As Apple continues to innovate, this forthcoming model is set to represent another major leap forward for the iconic iPhone.
