WEB DESK: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has stated that technical working group meetings under the memorandum of understanding with the United States are not scheduled for this week, according to Iranian media.
The announcement on Monday comes despite an earlier report from a source familiar with the discussions, who told Reuters that Iranian and American technical teams were expected to meet in the coming days to implement the MoU.
Gharibabadi’s comments, carried by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, appear to temper expectations for immediate progress on the technical front.
Qatar-mediated consultations continue
Mr Gharibabadi added that consultations between Iran and Qatar concerning US commitments were proceeding as planned. However, he clarified that technical working group talks in Doha have not yet been confirmed.
The developments reflect the cautious pace of diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington, with Qatar playing a mediating role in facilitating discussions on the implementation of the memorandum. No further details on the timing of potential meetings were provided.
