Iran send news proposal to US via Pakistani: state media

TEHRAN: Iran has delivered a new proposal for talks with the United States via Pakistan, state media reported.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran delivered the text of its latest negotiating proposal to Pakistan, as the mediator in talks with the United States, on Thursday evening,” Islamic Republic News Agency said.

It was not immediately clear what was included in the new proposal.

Iran and the United States have held a single round of talks against the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire following nearly 40 days of conflict that began on February 28.

Talks have since stalled as the United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, while Iran has kept the key Strait of Hormuz largely closed, allowing only limited shipping traffic through the waterway. On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held phone calls with counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Iraq and Azerbaijan on the latest “initiatives of the Islamic Republic to end the war,” according to a foreign ministry statement
