ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday during his official visit to Islamabad, as both sides held high-level talks on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Araghchi arrived at the Prime Minister’s House, where he met PM Shehbaz in a two-hour-long meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and the evolving regional situation, according to sources.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said the Prime Minister welcomed the Iranian delegation and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for regional and global peace and stability. He added that Pakistan reiterated its commitment to continued diplomatic efforts for peace in the region.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including DPM Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Officials said the discussions also included Pakistan-Iran relations and broader regional security dynamics.

The talks followed Araghchi’s earlier meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, which marked his first formal engagement during the visit.

Both sides reviewed the current situation in the Middle East, where rising tensions have increased the need for diplomatic coordination between regional countries, according to sources.

Pakistan and Iran continue to maintain close consultation on key regional issues, according to officials.

Officials further noted that Araghchi’s visit is part of a wider diplomatic outreach by Tehran, with additional engagements expected in other regional capitals as Iran steps up efforts to strengthen regional coordination.
