Is BCCI still pressuring ACC chairman to hand over Asia Cup 2025 title?

ISLAMABAD: India’s cricketing body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has once again asked Mohsin Naqvi, who serves as the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), to hand over the Asia Cup 2025 title, reports said.

The response to the latest letter from ACC Chairman Naqvi is yet to come, while the Asian cricketing body’s head had earlier received similar letters from the BCCI. The letters from the Indian board underscored their demand for the Asia Cup 2025 title, to which Chairman Naqvi responded that the ACC would arrange a formal event in Dubai on November 10 to hand over the trophy.

The BCCI Secretary also warned that if the trophy is not handed over, the matter would be taken up with the ICC.

It may be noted that Men in blue denied to receive the Asia Cup Trophy at the closing ceremony in September from Mohsin Naqvi following the Pakistan-India four-day aerial war that ended in a Trump-brokered ceasefire on May 10.

Defending champions India gained a 5-wicket victory over Pakistan in the last-over thriller to claim the Asia Cup final title. But the Indian team’s skipper Yadav did not like to receive the trophy from Naqvi, leading the ceremony into a farce
