Is Mufti Abdul Qavi aspiring to marry Aishwarya?

WEB DESK: religious scholar Mufti Abdul Qavi has sparked controversy on social media with a startling claim regarding Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. In a viral video, he suggested that Aishwarya and her husband Abhishek Bachchan are heading toward a separation. He further claimed that if this happens, he expects a marriage proposal from Aishwarya within two to four months.

When asked whether it was possible for him to marry a non-Muslim woman, Mufti Qavi referenced actress Rakhi Sawant, who reportedly converted to Islam and took the name Fatima. He claimed he would similarly convert Aishwarya Rai to Islam and rename her Ayesha Rai.

The statements immediately drew widespread attention on social media. Many users dismissed the claims as baseless and humorous, while others criticised him sharply.

This is not the first time Mufti Qavi has made such claims involving Indian actresses. Previously, he offered to marry Rakhi Sawant, which she humorously rejected, saying she alone equaled a hundred thousand women and that he could not manage her.

Critics argue that such claims are unfounded and mainly designed to gain attention rather than reflect reality. Despite the backlash, Mufti Qavi remains unapologetic, and his statements continue to generate discussion online.

Surrounded by controversies, the cleric was also once linked to the Qandeel Baloch murder case. Although he was acquitted, the decision sparked divided reactions. Qandeel had accused him in 2016 of inappropriate behaviour during a hotel meeting and publicly sought protection after receiving threats for “exposing” him. Following her murder, Qavi warned the media to “remember her fate” before criticising the clergy, further fuelling public outrage. Although he was ultimately cleared of involvement, supporters showered him with rose petals outside the court, while many on social media condemned the decision, arguing that his controversial role in Qandeel’s life and death should not have been dismissed so easily.
