WEB DESK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has engaged in a series of high-level diplomatic discussions on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye, focusing on regional stability and strengthening bilateral ties.
In a significant move to bolster South Asian diplomacy, Dar met with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Khalilur Rahman.
According to a statement released by the Foreign Office, the two ministers conducted a comprehensive review of the bilateral relationship between Islamabad and Dhaka.
The discussions, held amidst the prestigious gathering of global diplomats, are viewed as a vital step in maintaining consistent dialogue and fostering mutual cooperation on pressing regional issues.
Strengthening ties with Dhaka and Ankara
The meeting between Dar and Rahman allowed both sides to exchange views on the current regional landscape. This interaction is part of a broader effort by Pakistan to enhance its diplomatic engagement within the region, ensuring that channels of communication remain open on matters of shared interest.
Prior to this, the Deputy Prime Minister also held a telephonic conversation with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan.
The two leaders reaffirmed the deep-rooted strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, emphasizing the necessity of close coordination as they navigate complex geopolitical shifts.
Strategic coordination on regional security
Beyond bilateral cooperation, the discussions in Antalya have been heavily focused on the evolving regional security situation.
Dar and his counterparts underscored the importance of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum as a platform for addressing global challenges.
With diplomats from across the world in attendance, the Pakistani delegation has utilised the summit to advocate for collective responses to regional instability.
These engagements highlight Pakistan’s proactive foreign policy stance, aiming to secure regional peace through robust multilateralism and strengthened economic and political links with its neighbours.
