The district administration of the federal capital Islamabad has moved to reassure residents following circulating reports of a petrol shortage at fuel stations across the federal capital, stating that supplies of both petrol and diesel remain sufficient.
According to an official spokesperson, the administration is actively reviewing reports suggesting disruptions at certain petrol pumps. However, authorities emphasized that overall fuel stocks in Islamabad are “available in ample quantity,” and there is no widespread shortage affecting the city.
The spokesperson acknowledged that a limited number of petrol pumps had experienced temporary difficulties, attributing the issue to disruptions caused by the closure of heavy transport routes. These logistical challenges, officials said, impacted the timely delivery of fuel to some locations.
To address the situation, the administration has arranged for fuel supply through petrol tankers, ensuring that affected pumps continue to receive stock. “Fuel supply is being maintained, and corrective measures are already in place,” the spokesperson added.
Citizens have been urged not to panic or be misled by unverified reports. The district administration stressed that there is no need for concern, as monitoring mechanisms are actively in place.
Assistant Commissioners across Islamabad have been tasked with closely overseeing fuel availability at petrol stations in their respective areas. In addition, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad is personally supervising efforts to maintain uninterrupted supply throughout the city.
Officials also revealed that a digital dashboard is being used for real-time monitoring of fuel stock levels at all petrol pumps. This system allows the administration to respond swiftly to any reported shortages.
“In case of any disruption, immediate action will be taken to restore supply,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ensuring consistent availability of petrol and diesel for residents.
The administration reiterated its appeal for calm, assuring the public that the situation is under control and being managed proactively.
