Islamabad police arrest three in Jhangi Syedan killings case, girl rescued

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested three suspects, including a woman, in connection with a domestic dispute that led to the killing of four people, including a woman and a child, in the Jhangi Syedan area three days ago, officials said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Jawad Tariq said that the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Noon police station and initially appeared to stem from a family dispute.

He said that panic spread in the area after the killings on Saturday, prompting police and Rescue 1122 teams to rush to the scene. The bodies were later shifted to hospital for identification.

Police said that a nine-year-old girl was also abducted during the incident but was later recovered safely.

“The incident was the result of a family enmity. An FIR was registered immediately, and investigation was launched without delay,” DIG Tariq said.

He said that police used digital evidence, including CCTV footage from Safe City cameras, to trace the suspects.

“Three suspects, including a woman, have been arrested. They belong to Lower Dir. Further investigations are ongoing and raids are being conducted to arrest other facilitators,” he added.

Separately, police said they had also arrested two suspects involved in a Rs4.2 million robbery in the Bahara Kahu area and recovered around Rs3 million in cash. Police said a shop employee was allegedly involved in the incident.

In further operations, police said that five members of the ‘Shahzad Gang’ involved in street crime had been busted and 20 mobile phones were recovered from the gang members. Cases were also registered against them in Rawalpindi, the Islamabad police said.

Police also arrested three suspects in Ramna and Karachi Company jurisdictions and recovered cash, mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle.

Police said that a total of Rs5.4 million in cash had been recovered from various criminal groups during recent operations across the capital.
