WEB DESK: Islamabad Police have issued a traffic advisory announcing temporary diversions on several major roads in the federal capital on Monday, July 21, 2026, due to the movement of foreign delegations.
According to a police spokesperson, traffic diversions will be enforced at different times on the Islamabad Expressway, Srinagar Highway, Jinnah Avenue, Murree Road, and Club Road as part of security arrangements.
The advisory states that traffic on Srinagar Highway will be diverted between Serena Chowk and the 26 Number Toll Plaza. Motorists have been advised to use Iran Avenue, Margalla Road, and Jinnah Avenue as alternative routes.
Similarly, if diversions are implemented on the Islamabad Expressway between Khayaban Chowk on Faisal Avenue and Rawat T-Cross, commuters should use Jinnah Avenue and Ninth Avenue. Those travelling from Koral have been advised to take the Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Rawalpindi Murree Road, and Ninth Avenue.
Police further advised that if the Koral Expressway, Murree Road, or Club Road are temporarily closed, motorists should use the Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Rawalpindi Murree Road, and Ninth Avenue as alternate routes.
Residents leaving Islamabad have also been urged to travel via Jinnah Avenue and connect to Ninth Avenue.
The Islamabad Police spokesperson warned that traffic congestion is expected on several roads during the diversions and advised commuters to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys.
