KARACHI: Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has revealed that her role as a doctor in the drama series “Jafa” highlights the domestic violence often inflicted by husbands on their wives.
In an interview with “Something Haute”, Hocane shared that her performance resonated deeply with many of her friends and colleagues from the entertainment industry.
“After watching “Jafa”, several of my self-sufficient friends reflected on their relationships and told me my role accurately portrayed how some husbands behave with their wives,” she said.
The actress explained that her character represents a highly educated, independent woman working as a doctor, who, despite her autonomy, becomes a victim of her husband’s abuse.
“He takes her for granted, thinking she is the only person he can dominate,” Hocane said, emphasizing the deliberate nature of such behaviour.
