Jen Shah walks free: ‘Real Housewives’ star released from prison years early

Former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah has been released from federal prison more than four years ahead of schedule.

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Shah, 51, left a minimum security facility in Texas on Wednesday and has now been moved into community confinement. This typically means either home confinement or a halfway house, though officials did not specify which for privacy and safety reasons.

Shah was arrested in 2021 in connection with a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme that targeted elderly victims. After publicly insisting she was innocent, she pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2022. The following year, she was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars and ordered to forfeit more than 6 million dollars in assets.

Her sentence was repeatedly adjusted during her time in custody, with her December 2025 release date reported last month.

Shah served her time at the same Texas facility as former Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and Ghislaine Maxwell. Her case has remained a major point of conversation among Bravo fans, many of whom have speculated about a television comeback.

However, Bravo host and Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen recently shut down the possibility. Speaking on his radio show last week, Cohen said he wished Shah well but did not expect her to return to the Salt Lake City franchise.

Away from the spotlight, Shah now joins a growing list of Real Housewives stars who have served prison sentences, including Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice, as well as Erika Jayne’s estranged husband Tom Girardi.

For now, Shah’s focus remains on completing her remaining period of supervised release before she considers any next steps.
