ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed under the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has identified 550 social media accounts that are allegedly involved in spreading malicious propaganda against the Pakistan army and the judges.
According to sources, the JIT will recommended legal action against these accounts under the cybercrime act after their forensic audit.
The sources said that the FIA’s cybercrime wing is conducting a forensic audit of these accounts, which have posted about one million anti-army and anti-judiciary messages on various platforms.
The accounts include 290 Twitter users, 140 Facebook users, 117 TikTok and Instagram users, and 20 YouTube users.
Some of these users are prominent journalists, politicians, lawyers, models, and TikTokers.
The sources said that most of the content was uploaded from abroad, as 60% of the anti-state propaganda originated from foreign locations.
The FIA has started issued notices to the account holders and will proceed with the legal action after hearing their responses.
