ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have termed the recently held general election highly rigged and nontransparent and announced to register a joint protest unless people get back their rights.
Talking to the media along with the PTI leaders, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said that there was an uproar from all sides after the results of the February 8 elections.
He said that after that, a high-level delegation from the PTI visited Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence for a meeting.
“This meeting was the first official contact and we welcomed them completely. The main topic of discussion in the meeting was the results of the elections. Our stance is the same as what the PTI has put forward. We have completely rejected the February 8 elections and in this regard, the delegation led by Asad Qaiser came to us. Both parties agreed in the presence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the February 8 election was not transparent. Basically, there is a consensus on this issue that this was not a fair election. We agreed that political and economic stability will not transpire from this election,” he said.
Earlier, PTI delegation led by Asad Qaiser and Barrister Saif met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad.
PTI leader Barrister Saif said that “neither the nation liked the election results nor the political parties. Our delegation led by Asad Qaiser met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Our leadership had asked us to start consultation with all political parties regarding the rigging in the general election. The PTI is protesting against the election on February 17 and this movement will continue. We both agreed that we have rejected the results. We will continue the movement until the usurped right is returned to the people. The results that have come are the abuse of the trust of the nation.”
Earlier, the PTI delegation led by Asad Qaiser met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and discussed the overall political situation arising out of the recently held elections.
