KGMC graduation: Qandeel Murtaza makes history with record 17 gold medals in MBBS

PESHAWAR: Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC) saw remarkable academic milestone as student Qandeel Murtaza set a new institutional record, securing 17 gold medals in MBBS here.

The graduation ceremony witnessed an atmosphere of celebration and pride as Qandeel’s name was repeatedly announced for top honours across multiple subjects.

She was warmly applauded by attendees as she stepped forward to receive her medals, marking one of the most outstanding performances in the college’s academic history.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister attended the event and personally presented the medals to high-achieving students.

Qandeel was accompanied by her father, a tailor from Haripur, who was seen visibly proud of his daughter’s achievement.

In his media-talk, Qandeel’s father unleashed the family’s strong academic background, noting that excellence runs across siblings.

During his interview, he also mentioned about his other daughters, saying that one daughter is currently studying at Khyber Medical College, another serves as a Grade 17 officer in the Federal Investigation Agency, one has completed a PhD and is working in Islamabad, while his son holds an engineering degree.

The ceremony also recognised other top performers, including Muqaddas, who secured 10 gold medals, and Sabeeh, who earned seven, reflecting the institution’s consistently high academic standards.

The achievements of these graduates were widely praised, with Qandeel Murtaza’s record-breaking performance standing out as a defining moment of the event and an inspiration for future medical students.
