Khushab boat mishap: two bodies found, four still missing

KHUSHAB: The bodies of two of the six children who drowned in the Chashma Jhelum Link Canal in Khushab have been recovered, according to local rescue officials.

The incident occurred when a boat carrying ten children capsized at Shergarh Canal in Tehsil Noorpur Thal in Khushab district.

Four of the children were rescued immediately, while the search for the remaining six began in the morning on Wednesday.

Rescue officials confirmed that among the four still missing are two siblings. The boat reportedly capsized due to the rapid flow of water in the canal.

The search operation is ongoing, with rescue teams continuing their efforts to locate the four missing children.

Earlier, PDMA spokesperson said that DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia had a telephonic conversation with DC Khushab. He instructed the district administration to speed up the rescue operation.

The DG PDMA stated that strict legal action would be taken against those who allow children on boats without life jackets.
