Kolkata Knight Riders win IPL 2024 Championship

CHENOI: In a thrilling final at Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders emerged as the new champions of IPL 2024 by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision that backfired spectacularly.

The Sunrisers’ batting lineup crumbled against the sharp bowling attack of KKR, with the entire team dismissed for just 113 runs in 18.3 overs. Pat Cummins top-scored with 24, followed by Adam Markram with 20 and Heinrich Klaasen with 16. Andre Russell was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana chipped in with 2 wickets each.

In response, Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target effortlessly, reaching 114 in just 10.3 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Venkatesh Iyer was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 52.
