PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly in Peshawar approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Establishment of District Development Advisory Committee Amendment Bill on Tuesday.
Arshad Ayub introduced the bill in the provincial assembly. The bill aims to improve the effectiveness and inclusivity of the District Development Advisory Committees (DDACs) throughout the province.
The amendment revised section 3 of the original District Development Advisory Committee Act, which was designed to improve local governance and development initiatives.

The DDACs provide a platform for community engagement, allowing residents to forward their needs and priorities regarding local development projects.
The committees play an important role in advising on different initiatives and projects. This ensures that local issues received proper attention.
A major part of the amendment was the inclusion of representatives from multinational enterprises (MNEs) in the DDACs.
Previously, membership was limited to local only. MNEs are large corporations operating in multiple countries.
