PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that all government offices will operate remotely every Friday.
According to an official circular issued by the KP Administration Department, the new work-from-home policy will remain in effect for two months or until the energy situation improves.
The circular states that while Fridays will now be work-from-home days, the overall working schedule will be adjusted to accommodate this change, as Friday is already a pre-weekend holiday. Officials hope that this step will help reduce electricity consumption in government offices across the province.
In addition, the KP government has declared that all government and private educational institutions will observe spring holidays starting from March 24. The circular clarified that despite the holidays, ongoing examinations in schools and colleges will not be affected.
The Administration Department has directed all administrative secretaries to ensure strict compliance with the new directives. Government officials have welcomed the decision, describing it as a practical step to save energy while maintaining work continuity.
