KARACHI: Multan Sultans posted a formidable total of 200-7 in their allotted 20 overs against Karachi Kings in their PSL clash, setting a challenging target of 208 runs.
After being put in to bat first, the Sultans suffered an early setback as star batter Steve Smith was dismissed for a duck. However, the middle and lower order stepped up with a collective batting effort to put the team in a commanding position.
Shan Masood led the charge with a brisk 46 off 25 balls, maintaining an impressive strike rate. Josh Philippe provided early momentum with a quickfire 44 off 23 deliveries, smashing five boundaries and two sixes. Awais Zafar also contributed with a steady 36 off 27 balls to anchor the innings.
The late overs saw explosive hitting from Mohammad Imran, who remained unbeaten on 26 off just 8 balls, while Mohammad Wasim Jr. added a quick 7 not out off 2 deliveries to give the innings a strong finish.
For Karachi Kings, Khushdil Shah was the standout performer with the ball, picking up three key wickets, including those of Zafar, Smith, and Philippe. Moeen Ali supported well with two wickets, while Hasan Ali and Adam Zampa chipped in with one wicket each.
In response, Karachi Kings now need 208 runs to win at a required run rate of 10.40. Multan Sultans hold the upper hand heading into the second innings, with the momentum firmly on their side.
