Lahore ranked world’s most polluted city despite Sunday holiday

LAHORE: Lahore was ranked as the world’s most polluted city today, with a particulate matter reading of 433 on Sunday.

Even on a Sunday holiday, pollution levels did not improve in the capital of Punjab. All measures to control smog in the country’s second-largest city seem to be futile.

What is the ideal PM level?

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that PM levels should not exceed 25 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) on a 24-hour average.

Lahore’s PM level of 433 is significantly higher than the WHO’s recommended limit. This level of pollution is considered to be hazardous to human health and can cause serious health problems, especially for children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions.

Results of Artificial rain in Lahore:

The impact of the initial artificial rain in Lahore, aimed at alleviating pollution, has begun to wane. Although the first round of artificial rain, carried out on December 16 to tackle smog, initially demonstrated positive results, the latest findings present a different picture.
