LAHORE: Lahore Zoo is set to undergo a significant transformation as it embarks on a temporary closure lasting three months, starting on November 7 and extending until January 31.
This closure is a result of a comprehensive upgrade project anticipated to cost around Rs5 billion.
During this period, the zoo will remain closed to the public. The project includes several noteworthy features, such as the introduction of new animal species, including pandas, and the incorporation of cutting-edge technology.
In the meantime, the animals currently at Lahore Zoo will be relocated to Jallo Forest Safari Park and Changa Manga.

To ensure a smooth transition, a dedicated committee formed by the zoo administration will assess and recommend suitable habitats for each animal.
Once these recommendations receive approval, the process of relocating the animals will commence.
This initiative, known as the lifting project, aims to enhance the overall facilities for both the animals and the visitors.
Lahore Zoo, which currently houses a diverse collection of over 1,300 animals, including several endangered species, anticipates that these improvements will not only attract more visitors but also raise awareness about the importance of animal conservation.
