RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a raid in Rawalpindi after receiving a report from sensitive security agencies. The raid resulted in unearthing of 13 lockers filled with millions of rupees in cash. Two people were also arrested as a result of FIA’s operation.
The raid was conducted at an under-construction plaza in the Shamsabad region of Rawalpindi. The authorities had conducted surveillance for a week before the operation. A small iron gate was found towards the parking area of the double basement of the plaza. Spare construction equipment was also kept in that area.
When the FIA team punched the walls, they heard a resonant sound which led them to the existence of an empty space behind the wall, which was then broken to reveal a small secret door. On entering through the door, 13 large iron lockers were found along the wall. Security system and cameras were also installed with them.

On getting information about the operation, the owner of the plaza arrived with legal documents and tried to justify the situation to the FIA team. He also offered to open the lockers instead of them being broken open by the authorities.
According to reports, a bitter dispute also took place between the FIA team and the owner of the plaza over the uncovered money. The plaza owner insisted that the authorities leave the money on site, while the FIA team said that the recovered money needed to be confiscated. Later, the FIA called the police for assistance.
Regarding the owners, who are found to be involved in the housing society business, a preliminary report has been sent to the FIA authorities.
