ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he mistakenly took the name of former ISI chief Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, accusing him of cobbling together political parties to move a no-confidence motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
In an interview to ‘GTV’, he said that “I consider the former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed responsible for rigging in the 2018 elections.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman further said that there are mountains of bitterness between them and the PTI. “I am not in favour of maintaining differences but it is not easy to remove bitterness,” he said.
He said that nowhere in the country have the elections been done properly. The talks with the PTI delegation were held in amiable environment. We told the PTI delegation that rigging also took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
It may be recalled that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had in an earlier interview said that the no-confidence motion against the PTI was brought at the behest of former army chief Gen Qamar Bajwa and Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed.
