LAHORE: In a startling revelation, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party was against bringing a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
Talking to anchor persons in Lahore, he said that his party was in favour of quitting the National Assembly and go for elections but it was because of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) that his party participated in the no-confidence vote.
He noted that the PPP played a pivotal role in the move to bring a vote of no-confidence against the PTI chairman and the former prime minister.
He stressed that the MQM and the BAP party, key allies of the PDM government, were not advocating for early elections; instead, they were committed to allowing the government to complete its term.
