ISLAMABAD: The official Facebook account of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, President of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), has fallen victim to hacking.
The cyberattack originated from the Philippines, compromising the JUI-F chief’s official Facebook page, which boasts a substantial following of over 1 million users.
Aslam Ghauri, spokesperson for the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F), has confirmed that the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit has been notified and engaged to recover the hijacked Facebook page.

This incident follows a recent revelation by security agencies on August 25, which uncovered a sinister attempt to breach the mobile phones of senior government officials.
These agencies, acting on information provided by the Prime Minister’s House, thwarted efforts to access sensitive data under the guise of high-ranking officials.
The malicious endeavor involved the dissemination of mobile hacking links through WhatsApp, with the intention of extracting confidential information. In response, the Prime Minister’s Office has issued directives to government officials, urging vigilance and instructing them not to respond to irrelevant messages.
Officials have been advised to promptly notify the Cabinet Division when receiving suspicious messages.
