Microsoft addresses CPU usage bug and OneDrive folder issue

WEB DESK: Microsoft is currently grappling with two issues in its latest Windows 11 version, disappointing users with a series of bugs – high CPU usage and OneDrive.

One involves high CPU usage related to the Microsoft Cross Device Service on Windows 11 systems. Users complained about observing excessive CPU load due to background tasks associated with the service.

The users have identified the culprit using tools like Task Manager and expressed concern about the impact on their system’s performance and stability.

A Microsoft engineer acknowledged the problem while assuring users that the company was “actively investigating” to find a solution. However, specific timelines for resolution have not yet been provided.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s OneDrive users also reported that their shared folders were appearing as internet shortcuts instead of functional directories.

The unexpected change disrupted users’ ability to manage and access their files. Some users attempting workarounds, such as logging in with different accounts. However, the problem is yet to be resolved.

Windows 11 has been plagued with issue after issue since its launch. Previously, users complained about the settings app in Windows 11 crashing if they tried to change which apps show up on their lock screen too quickly. The bug made it difficult for users to manage their settings properly until Microsoft fixed it.

In April, an update for Windows 11 and Windows 10 had a bug that stops virtual private network (VPNs) from working properly. After installing the update, users found that their VPN connections were failing.

Microsoft admitted knowing about the issue but took them a long while to work on a fix.
