WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has issued a firm rebuttal against reports circulating online regarding an alleged targeted deportation campaign against Pakistani nationals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a formal clarification, the Minister dismissed the claims as “misleading narratives” designed to incite unnecessary panic among the Pakistani diaspora and undermine the longstanding diplomatic ties between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi.
Officials have stressed that there is no official policy in place for the mass or targeted expulsion of Pakistani citizens from the Gulf state.
Countering ‘coordinated disinformation’
Mr Naqvi highlighted that the rumours were being systematically amplified by social media accounts linked to Indian and Afghan propaganda networks.
According to the Interior Ministry, these coordinated efforts seek to create a rift in Pakistan-UAE relations by exploiting the anxieties of overseas workers.
The Minister noted that the digital landscape is being weaponised to spread misinformation, urging citizens to remain vigilant against unverified reports.
He reiterated that the fraternal relations between the two nations remain strong and warned that such claims are part of a deliberate attempt to damage bilateral interests.
Call for public vigilance
The government has called upon the public to refrain from relying on or sharing unverified social media claims that could damage national interests.
Security officials maintain that there is no evidence of a collective crackdown or any policy of mass deportation currently being implemented by UAE authorities against the Pakistani community.
Overseas Pakistanis have been advised to rely solely on official channels for information regarding their status.
The Interior Minister’s statement aims to stabilise the narrative following a week of heightened online speculation, as Islamabad moves to protect its strategic partnerships within the Middle East.
