ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday to review progress on an ongoing upgradation project, directing officials to ensure timely completion while maintaining high standards.

During the visit, FIA Director General Usman Anwar briefed the minister in detail on the scope and progress of the project, outlining efforts to modernise the agency’s infrastructure and operations.

Naqvi emphasised that the reforms were part of a broader initiative to transform the FIA into a more effective and public-friendly institution. He said the government aims to place the agency on modern lines by the end of the current year.

Focus on modernisation and capacity building

The interior minister highlighted that multiple areas were being upgraded simultaneously, including infrastructure, technology and human resources, to enhance the FIA’s overall capacity.

He stressed that improving operational efficiency and public service delivery remains a key priority, adding that the ongoing reforms would help strengthen the agency’s role in tackling crime and safeguarding national interests.

Officials said the upgradation project is designed to equip the FIA with modern tools and systems, enabling it to respond more effectively to evolving challenges, particularly in areas such as cybercrime and financial investigations.

Merit-based recruitment and transparency stressed

Naqvi also underscored the importance of transparency in recruitment, directing authorities to ensure that all new hiring is conducted strictly on merit.

He said maintaining integrity in the recruitment process is essential for building a professional and credible institution.
