WEB DESK: Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Friday announced a new bonus structure for Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, introducing additional financial rewards aimed at accelerating the league’s growth and strengthening investment in player development.
In a statement shared on X, Naqvi said that from the upcoming editions, franchises will be eligible for three separate performance bonuses: USD500,000 for the champions, USD300,000 for the runners-up, and $200,000 for the franchise that contributes most significantly to cricket development.
It is to be noted that these bonuses are not the PSL’s winners’ prize money, but an extra financial reward for franchise owners. The official prize purse for future editions, will be announced later and is expected to be higher than previous seasons.
The PCB chairman said the new incentive model was designed to push teams to elevate their standards on and off the field. By rewarding investment in talent pipelines, training infrastructure and youth development, the Board hopes to drive long-term benefits for Pakistan cricket.
“Let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights,” Naqvi said, expressing confidence that franchises would respond by strengthening their programmes and overall team operations.
The announcement signals the beginning of what Naqvi has described as a “new era” for the PSL, one in which franchises are encouraged not only to compete, but also to contribute substantially to the country’s cricketing ecosystem.
