More rain, hail forecast across Pakistan through Sept 17

More rain and hailstorms are expected across several parts of the country from Monday through September 17, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting thunderstorms in Islamabad and rainfall in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

The weather department said Islamabad could receive further rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galiyat region and several other districts of Punjab are also expected to experience rainfall.

From Tuesday through September 17, rain is forecast in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal and Gujrat, as well as Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Kasur, Okara and Nankana Sahib.

Several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to receive rain during the period, including Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Malakand and Mardan.

Intermittent rainfall is also expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, while several cities across Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana, may also see showers.

In Balochistan, rain is forecast in the districts of Zhob, Barkhan and Musa Khel.

The Met Office has warned of a risk of landslides in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir during the period.

Residents in vulnerable mountainous areas have been advised to remain alert as further rainfall could increase the risk of landslides.
