Motorway police raise traffic fines by 200%

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has increased traffic fines by 200 per cent. The NHMP also added seven new rules to the traffic regulations.
The following fines have been increased:
Overspeeding: The fine for overspeeding has been increased from Rs750 to Rs2,500.
Overtaking: The fine for overtaking has been increased from Rs300 to Rs1,500.
Driving with faulty lights at night: The fine for driving with faulty lights at night has been increased from Rs500 to Rs5,000.
Carelessness and negligence: The fine for carelessness and negligence has been increased from Rs 300 to Rs1,500.
Driving without a license: The fine for driving without a license has been increased from Rs750 to Rs5,000.
Driving without registration: The fine for driving without registration has been increased from Rs500 to Rs2,000.
News rules added to traffic regulations:
Using illegal police lights: The fine for using illegal police lights will be Rs5,000.

Using fancy number plates and HID lights: The fine for using fancy number plates will be Rs1,000, and for HID lights, it will be Rs2,000.
The decision to increase fines was made in a meeting of the NHMP. The fines have been implemented immediately on the motorways.
