MS VS HK: Multan Sultans beaten in thrilling PSL 11 encounter

kARACHI: Multan Sultans suffered an unexpected defeat as Hyderabad Kingsmen successfully chased down their 213-run total in tonight’s MS vs HK clash.

Chasing a daunting target, Hyderabad Kingsmen reached the total with six wickets down and three balls to spare, thanks to Usman’s record-setting fourth century of the tournament.

The innings began on a shaky note as Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for seven in the second over with just 13 runs on the board. Labuschagne then added 34 runs for the second wicket with Saim Ayub, who scored only five before falling to Mohammad Ismail, who struck again on the next delivery to remove Kusal Perera for a golden duck, reducing Kingsmen to 48-3.

Usman, turned the game around after an early let-off. He forged a crucial 123-run partnership with captain Marnus Labuschagne, with both batters bringing up their half-centuries. Labuschagne scored 61 off 41 balls before being dismissed by Peter Siddle in the 16th over.

Usman continued his aggressive approach and completed his century on the final ball of the 17th over. However, Siddle struck back in the 18th over, removing both Glenn Maxwell and Usman, who top-scored with a blistering 101 off 47 balls, including 10 sixes and five fours.

With 26 needed off the last two overs, Hassan Khan’s quickfire 24 guided Kingsmen to victory with three balls remaining. For Multan Sultans, Siddle and Ismail picked up three wickets each.

Usman was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock. Earlier, Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne’s decision to field first proved costly as Multan Sultans posted 213-7 in their 20 overs.

Earlier, Multan Sultans posted a massive total of 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs against Hyderabad Kingsmen. During their innings, Steve Smith registered a blistering century while Sahibzada Farhan added half-century that increased the team’s target to 213 in 20-over game.

Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Steve Smith put together a record 132-run partnership for the first wicket, with in-form Farhan scored 66 runs off 43 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.

Steve Smith equally dominated the opposition bowlers, smashing an incredible 106 runs off just 50 balls. His explosive innings included 8 fours and 7 sixes.

Hyderabad Kingsmen bowlers struggled to contain the Sultans’ batting lineup. However, Akif Javed made a strong comeback in the final overs, taking 3 wickets to restrict the total, while Mohammad Ali, Hunain Shah, Hasan Khan, and Glenn Maxwell picked up one wicket each.
