NA panel bans election contest on more than two seats

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Wednesday approved a bill, slapping a ban on contesting elections from more than two seats.

The bill, introduced by Jamat-e-Islami leader Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali in the NA, prohibited the candidates from contesting elections on more than two seats in the general eletion and by-elections.

Amidst the approval of the bill, Chitrali said, “When a candidate contests from multiple seats, national resources are wasted”.
