ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued new guidelines for citizens who wish to update their current address on their computerized national identity cards.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the process of updating the address has now been made simpler, allowing citizens to keep their residential records accurate and up-to-date.
The spokesperson said that citizens must provide at least one valid proof of residence to request an address change.
He said that electricity, gas, or water bills in the name of parents, spouse, or on a property owned by the applicant are acceptable documents to change the address.
Additionally, the spokesperson said, domicile certificates, property documents, housing society allotment letters, or a certified rental agreement can also be submitted as proof.
The spokesperson said that citizens can visit the nearest NADRA centre anywhere in the country with the required documents, where staff will guide them through the complete address update process.
Earlier, NADRA issued an advisory urging all married citizens across Pakistan to update their marital status in the national database to avoid potential legal complications.
In a statement shared through its official Facebook page, NADRA noted that a significant number of citizens have registered their marriages with local Union Councils but have yet to update their marital status in the NADRA system.
The authority stressed that all such individuals should visit their nearest NADRA registration center at the earliest to ensure their records are accurate and up to date. The update drive is part of NADRA’s ongoing efforts to maintain precise and current citizen data nationwide.
To facilitate the process, NADRA has also introduced an SMS service aimed at reminding and informing citizens about the update requirement. For further assistance, citizens can contact the NADRA helpline at 1777 (for mobile users) or 051-111-786-100, or visit the official website at www.nadra.gov.pk.
