Naseer Soomro, world’s tallest man, passes away

SHIKARPUR: One of the world’s tallest men, Naseer Soomro, died in Shikarpur on Monday following a protracted illness. He was 55.
Soomro, who was 7 feet 9 inches tall, had been afflicted with a lung condition for a number of months. Due to respiratory issues, he had been admitted to the hospital on many occasions and had treatment in Karachi.
After exhibiting indications of recovery, he was sent back to his village from a private hospital in Karachi last year. But in recent months, his condition worsened much worse, and even with continuous care, he was unable to live.

His funeral prayers will be hled on Tuesday morning in Shikarpur.
Because of his remarkable height, Soomro became well-known around the world, drawing attention to Pakistan. The government had given him a position with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the country’s carrier, in appreciation of his stature.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Pakistan’s tallest man, Naseer Soomro.
In a statement on Monday, the prime minister prayed for the highest ranks of the deceased and patience for his family.
He said the entire nation commiserates with the family of late Naseer Soomro in this hour of grief.
