WEB DESK: Amid ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India, a heartwarming gesture has emerged from the arts. Students and artists at Pakistan’s National College of Arts (NCA) paid tribute to the late Indian film icon Dharmendra, demonstrating that admiration for talent transcends political boundaries.
Dharmendra, celebrated across South Asia for his memorable films and charismatic presence, recently passed away, leaving fans in both India and Pakistan mourning his loss. NCA students honoured him through drawings, posters, and messages highlighting his contributions to cinema and the inspiration he provided to generations of viewers.
A student of Fine Arts, Barira Khan, took to her Instagram to show how the university was commemorating the icon, saying that as an artist she does not believe in borders.
“It is often thought that India and Pakistan are enemies but we have not learnt to hate our neighbours. Whenever I have met an Indiana across the border, we have only spread love and warmth. Art has no border and whichever side we may be at, we are one,” she said while thanking NCA for holding space for Dharmendra.
The tribute reiterated that art and culture can connect people in ways politics cannot.
This act of respect highlights the unifying power of creativity, showing that cultural appreciation knows no borders. Even as diplomatic tensions persist, moments like these remind that art, admiration, and shared human emotions continue to bring people together.
