NDMA issues advisory for rain, snowfall next week

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued important advisory to various departments in anticipation of potential rain and snowfall in the coming week.

The meteorological department has predicted a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in various areas of the country from March 11 till 14.

These weather phenomena are expected to affect regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, and Galiat.

Additionally, there is a concern regarding possible landslides and heavy snow, which could lead to the obstruction of roads and communication routes.

To mitigate the impact of these natural occurrences, NDMA is actively working on developing a mobile application aimed at providing early warnings for disasters and facilitating safety measures.

Furthermore, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) have been instructed to maintain a state of readiness to respond promptly to any emergency situations that may arise.

In order to ensure effective response and relief efforts, relevant organizations are urged to swiftly mobilize emergency personnel and machinery as necessary.

 Continuous monitoring of water levels in rivers and canals is advised to anticipate any potential flooding or related hazards.

Moreover, farmers are encouraged to adapt their agricultural activities in accordance with the prevailing weather conditions, taking necessary precautions to safeguard their crops and livelihoods.

 CM PUNJAB INSTRUCTIONS

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all related departments to take precautionary measures in the wake of forecast about thunderous rainfall and increase in cold in the province from 11th to 14th of this month.

She also directed PDMA and Rescue 1122 to keep her updated regarding the measures being taken.  

Maryam Nawaz said that public should be made aware in advance about the situation, through electronic and social media besides the mobile alerts service. She also directed to take effective measures for protection of cattle in rural areas.
