LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has concluded the construction of sports complex in Tajpura, ushering in a new era of recreational opportunities for the local community.

This state-of-the-art facility, comparable to those in Gulberg and Defence Lahore, was inaugurated on Thursday by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The Tajpura Sports Complex, a project that faced delays over the past seven years, finally saw its fruition with Chief Minister Naqvi leading the inauguration ceremony.

During the event, the Chief Minister inspected the various sections of the complex, including the gym, badminton indoor hall, snooker room, table tennis hall, swimming pool, ladies gym, and snooker room.

Commending the initiative taken to equip the gym with the latest exercise machines, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for Commissioner Lahore/DG LDA and his team.

He highlighted that, despite the setbacks in the project’s timeline, the provision of excellent sports facilities in the complex was a commendable achievement.

The ambitious sports complex, sprawling over 12 kanals of land, caters to the diverse sporting needs of the community, offering more than 20 indoor sports for men, women, and families.

Chief Minister Naqvi, responding to queries during the inauguration, revealed that the project’s initiation dates back to 2017, and he expressed regret over the delays that plagued its completion.

On matters beyond the sports complex, CM Naqvi addressed concerns about recent regional developments. He asserted that the Pakistan Army, by the grace of Allah Almighty, had aptly responded to any aggression from Iran, sending a clear message that any ill intentions towards Pakistan would not go unanswered.

Regarding environmental concerns, the Chief Minister announced plans to collaborate with Chinese environmental specialists to address the smog issue. Additional data would be provided, and further research would be conducted, leading to the installation of the first anti-smog tower within the next 15-20 days.

He concluded the press briefing by assuring the public of the government’s commitment to ongoing projects, emphasising that the Bund Road Project was under continuous monitoring.

Furthermore, Minister of Housing Azfar Ali Nasir and DG LDA were actively involved in overseeing the progress, with the Imamia Colony Flyover set to be opened by the 5th of February.

The completion of the Tajpura Sports Complex signifies a new chapter in local sports and recreational opportunities.
