Nine terrorists killed after attack attempt on security post in Mastung

ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed nine terrorists during an operation in Mastung district of Balochistan under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, sources said on Wednesday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the terrorists attempted to attack a security post in the Kanak Valley area of Mastung.

Security forces responded to the attack, killing two terrorists in the initial exchange of fire.

The remaining terrorists fled the area but were pursued by the security forces, who killed seven more during the operation, the sources said.

One security official was injured in the exchange of fire and shifted to hospital for treatment.

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition, along with three motorcycles, was recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists, according to the sources.

A search and clearance operation is under way in the area, with security forces continuing efforts to locate any remaining militants, the sources said.

The Mastung operation comes a day after security forces killed six terrorists and arrested nine suspected individuals during an intelligence-based operation in the Saran Tangi area of Balochistan under Operation Shaban-2.

According to security sources, the Saran Tangi operation targeted terrorists affiliated with what the government refers to as Fitna al-Hindustan. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorists.

The latest operations are part of continuing security actions against militant groups in Balochistan under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, according to Radio Pakistan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has previously praised security forces for their operations against militants in Balochistan, saying actions against groups referred to by the government as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij would continue.
