ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the Pakistan cricket team will receive a total of $260,000 despite their early exit from the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan played nine matches in the ongoing World Cup held in India, securing victories in four of them and suffering losses in five. As a result, the national team has secured the fifth position with eight points.

ICC allocated a total prize purse of $10 million for the World Cup, with each team earning $40,000 for each match won in the group stage. However, the teams eliminated in the group stage will also receive a participation fee.

According to the ICC formula, Pakistan’s early exit entitles them to a total of $260,000. This prize money is equivalent to approximately PKR 74 million.

It’s important to note that the semifinalists will receive $800,000 each, the finalists will be awarded $2.5 million, and the winner of the tournament will take home $5 million.
