RAWALPINDI: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the third match of the Tri-Nation T20 series, with opener Sahibzada Farhan playing a brilliant innings of 80 runs.
In the match played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s bowlers restricted the visiting team to a modest total of 128-7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sri Lanka’s openers, Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara, scored 17 and 22 runs respectively before being dismissed, while Kusal Perera made 25 before falling to Muhammad Nawaz. Janith Liyanage resisted with an unbeaten 41 off 38 balls.
All-rounder Muhammad Nawaz produced an impressive bowling performance, taking three wickets for just 16 runs, while Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, and Salman Mirza claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, at the toss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said one change was made to the playing XI: fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was rested, and Muhammad Wasim Jr. was included in the final XI.
Earlier, the Lions posted 128-7 in their allotted 20 overs, with Janith Liyanage top-scoring for the Sri Lankan side with a well-compiled 41 off 38 balls. The third match of the Pakistan T20I tri-nation series.
It is worth noting that in the first match of the tri-nation series, host Pakistan had defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets, while Zimbabwe secured their first victory of the series by defeating Sri Lanka by a margin of 67 runs in the second match.
