WEB DESK: Washington has submitted the text of a comprehensive new agreement proposal to Tehran through established Pakistani diplomatic channels, signalling a renewed international effort to lower regional tensions.

The Iranian leadership is currently reviewing the contents of the American draft and has yet to deliver an official response, according to The Express Tribune.

Behind the scenes, a Pakistani mediator is actively engaged in discussions in Tehran, working round the clock to narrow the persistent differences between the American and Iranian positions.

Shuttle diplomacy and the interim framework

The intensive mediation framework aims to hammer out a mutually acceptable interim agreement between the two adversarial capitals.

Pakistan has intensified backchannel diplomacy, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi making multiple rapid visits to Tehran to bridge gaps between the US and Iran, according to TRT.

This draft proposal is viewed by international observers as a significant, structured attempt to freeze escalations and build a predictable diplomatic baseline before broader geopolitical friction points are addressed.

Military diplomacy conditional on Tehran’s response

In tandem with these diplomatic manoeuvres, the planned high-profile visit of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, to Iran has been strategically linked to the outcome of these talks, according to DW.

The military chief’s trip to Tehran will proceed only if the Iranian government formally signals its consent to the terms outlined in the American proposal.

Should an understanding on the interim framework be successfully reached, Field Marshal Munir is expected to travel to the Iranian capital shortly thereafter to solidify bilateral security guarantees and underscore Islamabad’s role as a primary regional stabiliser.
